We understand the deep sadness and stress the closure of Birmingham-Southern College causes for its current students and community members. Agnes Scott's Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks to help make the transfer process for those students who may wish to continue their degree at Agnes Scott a smooth and painless one.
If you are a current student at Birmingham-Southern College, please read on for information on how to apply to transfer to Agnes Scott. If you are a current high school student who intended to enroll at BSC, you may APPLY THROUGH OUR TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT APPLICATION PROCESS.
How to Apply as a BSC Transfer
Applicants should complete our transfer application via the Common App.
- The deadline to submit your application is June 1.
- We also recommend submitting your FAFSA to Agnes Scott College as soon as possible, so we may provide you a financial aid package.

Who qualifies for admission at Agnes Scott?
Current Birmingham-Southern College students who meet Agnes Scott’s admission criteria may qualify for admission through our transfer application. This includes current Birmingham-Southern first-year students through junior students.
Agnes Scott College enrolls students of diverse backgrounds, interests and talents whose academic and personal qualities promise success. Qualified students of any race, age, creed or national or ethnic origin are encouraged to apply to Agnes Scott.
In addition, as a learning community that embraces its identity and mission as a women’s college and its commitment to inclusive excellence, we admit students who were assigned female at birth, as well as those who were assigned male or female at birth but who now identify as female, transgender, agender, gender fluid or non-binary. What is Agnes Scott looking for in a transfer student from Birmingham-Southern College?
To be considered for admission, Birmingham-Southern students need to be in good academic and social standing with BSC.
What is needed for the application? Is there a fee?
There is no application fee for students to apply.
How long will it take for me to get an admission decision?
We will be considering applications on a rolling basis. In general, you should hear back from us within three weeks about an admission decision.
Are international students from BSC eligible to apply?
International students at Birmingham-Southern are welcome to apply as transfer students. In addition to the transfer application, we ask that international students submit the certificate of finance.
Will I qualify for scholarships at Agnes Scott?
BSC transfer students will be considered for all of Agnes Scott’s academic merit scholarships, ranging from $25,000-$28,000 per year.
Will I be considered for financial aid at Agnes Scott?
All domestic students who are admitted to Agnes Scott and complete the FAFSA will be considered for need-based aid.
Will Agnes Scott match my scholarship or financial aid from BSC?
We will not be able to guarantee the same scholarship and financial aid amounts a student received at Birmingham-Southern, but we do offer our students generous scholarships and financial aid. Learn more about our commitment to affordability.
I’m a Georgia resident. Will I qualify for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarships?
If you maintain Georgia residency, you may qualify for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship based on your high school performance.
Is housing available for transfer students?
Transfer students are eligible to live in one of our residence halls, theme houses or apartments. As an incoming transfer student, you will register for housing later than returning and other new incoming students. As a result, the Office of Residence Life staff will work with you to place you in housing.
If I need academic accommodations, can I receive those at Agnes Scott?
Incoming transfer students will work with our Office of Accessible Education to meet accommodation needs.
Do transfer students participate in orientation?
All transfer students participate in orientation as a way to welcome them to the Agnes Scott community. Orientation takes place before classes start in the fall.
