Junior & Senior Year

Take your leadership development journey to new heights during your junior and senior year.

After participating in Global Journeys in their first year and SCALE in their second year, students continue their leadership development through applied career experiences such as High-Impact Learning and Leadership Sessions (ACE HILLS). Building on the knowledge and skills gained through these signature Summit experiences, students deepen their professional competencies, strengthen their leadership capacity, and connect their academic learning to future career goals.

Applied Career Experience: High-Impact Learning and Leadership Sessions (ACE HILLS)

ACE HILLS provides students with advanced professional development opportunities led by industry experts and practitioners. Through a series of workshops and interactive learning experiences, students develop career ready skills while engaging with leadership development and digital  citizenship concepts embedded throughout the curriculum. Recent ACE HILLS offerings have included workshops in creative problem solving, project management, data visualization, and the music production and industry. By connecting professional expertise with leadership learning, ACE HILLS helps students translate their academic and experiential learning into success beyond graduation.

Impact Service Experience

The Impact Service Experience (ISE) bridges the gap between leadership and service. During their Impact Service Experience, students team up to serve communities outside of our local area. In addition to working on a service project, each team participates in education, social justice and teambuilding training to strengthen their leadership skills.

Schmidt Global Student Leaders

Named in honor of the late President Emerita Ruth A. Schmidt ('82-'94), Schmidt Global Student Leaders are juniors and seniors selected to assist a Journeys faculty member in facilitating the course meetings for their section of Journeys and accompanying the class on the immersion experience in March.

SCALE Leaders

SCALE Leaders gain critical leadership and management skills by working with faculty to facilitate SCALE courses. SCALE Leaders assist with course meetings, accompany student teams to placement sites, handle on-site logistics and lead reflection exercises.
