Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Accelerated Program Overview

Our Post-Bacc Pre-Medical Accelerated program is now offered as a graduate-level certificate.

You’ll appreciate our successful outcomes: 100% of qualified Agnes Scott College master’s and post-baccalaureate students were admitted to the medical school or health professions program of their choice during the 2022-2023 medical school application cycle. *

Building on nearly three decades of success, we offer a graduate-level, cohort-based, in-person program designed for the high-achieving student who is preparing to apply to medical, dental or veterinary school. As a graduate certificate, the program is eligible for federal financial aid, which may help you invest in your next step if you need it.

The Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Accelerated program at Agnes Scott is a selective pre-medical laboratory science program designed for students who are career-changers who have excelled in their past academic career and want to apply to medical, dental or veterinary school.

You benefit from a community of dedicated faculty and advisers who will help you achieve success in preparing for medical school or other health professions program. We’ll help you develop a customized action plan for your medical or health professions application process — everything from MCAT preparation to personalized committee letters.

*Qualified applicants are defined as those who completed their program at Agnes Scott with a 3.50 GPA or higher and scored at or above the 50th percentile on the MCAT/DAT/GRE.

What You’ll Learn in Our Accelerated Post-Bacc Pre-Med Program

At Agnes Scott we know that changing careers and preparing for medical school can seem challenging. That’s why we designed our Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical program to ensure you have the necessary advising support and academic training to successfully enter the next stage of your education.

Our 12-month, in-person, accelerated program offers you comprehensive studies in pre-medical laboratory sciences taught by our award-winning faculty:

  • Coursework includes advanced classes in biology, chemistry, biochemistry and physics, taught at a fast-paced graduate level, to prepare you for the rigors of medical school or another health professions program.
  • High achievers like you are encouraged to apply for elective volunteer service, graduate assistantships and other opportunities. These positions can help you get a leg up on your medical school application.
  • Worried about the MCAT? Our post-baccalaureate program includes an MCAT (or DAT or GRE) test prep course, offered by your choice of the Princeton Review or BluePrint, to help focus your testing efforts and optimize your test outcome.

Take Advantage of Our Unique Academic Partnerships

Agnes Scott College partners with Mercer School of Medicine, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with a linkage agreement for Pre-Med Post-Baccalaureate students who meet specific criteria.

Eligible students enrolled full-time in this post-bacc program are invited to apply for early assurance admission through this linkage to the MD degree at Mercer School of Medicine or Morehouse University School of Medicine.

Agnes Scott also maintains other strong relationships with premier health care institutions and hospitals in Atlanta, including Emory School of Medicine and Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy.

Gain More With Personal Health Professions Advising and Customized Committee Letters

As a student in our accelerated Pre-Med Post-Baccalaureate program, you’ll collaborate with health professions advisors to develop your personalized med school or health professions application path. Eligible students receive personalized, detailed committee letters. Each letter is tailored to your specific application needs. You can take advantage of this service for up to one year after you complete the program.

As an added perk, all post-bacc students receive an Interfolio account. Health professions advisers guide you through the process to store committee letters and application materials in your Interfolio Dossier, which connects directly with the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).
