Sophomore Ring Ceremony

A special rite of passage in every Agnes Scott student’s college life is the Sophomore Ring Ceremony. Family and friends share in the excitement as sophomores receive their Agnes Scott class rings. The onyx rings are inscribed with the letters “ASC” and the sophomore’s class year. The rings are presented in beautiful wooden boxes bearing the college's seal.

Gaines Chapel, Presser Hall

Student Registration

Students who wish to participate in the ceremony must register online. Student registration to participate closes on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11:59 pm eastern. Students that do not register before the deadline will not be able to participate as all preparations for the program must be completed at least two weeks in advance.

Participation is not mandatory to receive your ring, however, if you do not participate in the ceremony, you will be able to pick up your ring beginning on the Monday after the ceremony from the Center for Student Involvement, Alston 216.

If you are not able to attend, your ring will be kept in a locked safe until you can make arrangements to pick it up.

Event Information

As of now, families and guests will be able to attend the sophomore ring ceremony so long as they are fully vaccinated (including booster, if eligible), can provide proof of vaccination upon arrival and wear their mask during the entirety of the ceremony. Seats in the event space are limited and prior registration is required. There will be an overflow location and live streaming provided on the Agnes Scott College Facebook page, click here to access. The protocol for the overflow space will follow those of the event space. The deadline to register for a ticket is Friday, February 4, 2022. Click here for registration.

While the college has long prioritized and enjoyed the post-ceremony reception for families and guests, the ongoing pandemic has created too many uncertainties to be able to offer that tradition for families and guests at this time. The college hopes to offer a reception for all but as of now, it will be limited to students only. We are closely monitoring the conditions of the pandemic and if anything changes in which we can allow guests to the reception, an update will be communicated along with a link to purchase tickets.
