Career Exploration

Build self-awareness and career literacy at Agnes Scott.

Our goal and mission in the Office of Internship and Career Development are to help you to:

  • Build your ability to identify and articulate your strengths, skills and interests.
  • Increase your awareness of possible career paths.
  • Explore options that align with your interests.
  • Become knowledgeable about ways you can transfer skills and lessons from the classroom to the workplace.

Discovery

As an Agnes Scott student, you'll take a holistic approach to self-discovery and career exploration. The Office of Internship and Career Development will help you on this journey with a variety of tools and approaches:

  • Strengths-Based

    • As an undergraduate, you'll complete the StrengthsFinder assessment tool created by Gallup during LDR 101 to discover your top five talents and strengths.
  • Values Sorts

    • You'll use card-sorting exercises focused on career and life-specific values in workshops and individual coaching.
  • Skills Identification and Reflection

    • You'll learn about and reflect on your professional skills that are identified by NACE as critical career competencies.
  • Workstyles and Preferences

    • Through the Career Match tool, you'll work with the center to identify your specific temperament and corresponding needs, values, talents and behaviors. Through Career Match profiles, you'll learn the types of work, organizational environments and management style in which you'll thrive.
