Co-Curricular Leadership Opportunities

Agnes Scott defines leadership as the practice of effectively mobilizing people to engage challenges.

Leadership is both a practice and an academic field of study, and the training that Agnes Scott students receive equips them to lead honorably by cultivating knowledge, values, and skills that they can apply across contexts. There are many different ways to lead, and every individual has leadership potential. The co-curricular leadership development activities and exercises at Agnes Scott College are intentionally designed to help students clarify their values and identify their authentic leadership style, apply theory to practice, and develop leadership skills to help them work effectively and ethically as part of a diverse group.

Whether you are looking to attend a leadership workshop, listen to an engaging and inspiring speaker, or participate in an experiential leadership retreat, there are many opportunities to apply the leadership concepts learned inside the classroom to contexts and situations outside of the classroom.

Alternative Service Experience

Alternative Service Experience (ASE) is a program that takes teams of students to a service site and promotes community building and engagement beyond our local Decatur community. ASE is a fun and meaningful way for students to spend their breaks and long weekends. In addition to working on a service project, each team takes part in education, social justice and teambuilding training sessions prior to departure.
