Post-Bacc Pre-Allied Health Curriculum

Program Requirements

The Post-Bacc Pre-Allied Health is an in-person, cohort program. Below is a list of some of the requirements. For a comprehensive look at the program and admission requirements, review the current academic catalog.

  • Students within the Pre-Allied Health program must declare their intent to participate in the full-time or part-time cohort at the time of enrollment and complete a minimum of 36 credit hours, 28 of which must be in residence, to confer the certificate. 
  • Pre-Allied Health students with approved courses, substitutions or who want to complete additional study can also take elective courses in the Medical Sciences programs, pending approval by the Senior Director for Graduate Studies. Elective courses can include genetics of human disease, medical cell biology, immunology, etc. Students may request to take courses in the Medical Sciences programs, pending approval by the Senior Director of Graduate Studies. 
  • Post-bacc students can take classes outside of the curriculum or once their cohort is complete with authorization from the program director and pending seat availability.

  • CHE-510/510L Introduction to Chemistry w/Lab (4.00 credit hours)
  • CHE-520/520L Foundations of Inorganic & Physical Chemistry /Lab (4.00 credit hours)
  • MDS-624* Professional Success in Medicine and Health (2.00 credit hours)
Fall Semester (15 credit hours)
  • BIO-511/511L: Integrative Biology II/Lab (4.00 credit hours)
  • CHE-530/530L: Organic Chemistry I/Lab (4.00 credit hours)
  • MDS-614*: Biostatistics (3.00 credit hours)
  • MDS-620/620L: Anatomy & Physiology I/Lab (4.00 credit hours)
Spring Semester (12 credit hours)
In addition to 12-hours of science course curriculum, students complete a complementary test preparation course for the MCAT, DAT or GRE during the spring semester.
  • BIO-601/601L: Microbiology/Lab (4.00 credit hours)
  • MDS-630/630L: Anatomy & Physiology II/Lab (4.00 credit hours)
  • MDS-632: Medical Biochemistry (4.00 credit hours)

 *These courses are available for students to complete as elevetices and are not required for the completion of this certificate.

All part-time elections must be made prior to matriculation into their program, when they meet with the Graduate and Post-Bacc Advisor to review their course plan. 24-month course plans are subject to change, based on the student's needs and course availability.

*These courses are available for students to compelte as electives and are not required for completion of this certificate. 

*In addition to the science course curriculum, students complete a complementary test preparation course for the MCAT, DAT or GRE during the fall or spring semester of year two, with timing based on the director's approval. Certain requirements to complete 75% of the test prep course apply to students who opt-in to participating.
