Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Dr. Perdue studies cognitive processes such as metacognition, self-control, prospective memory and choice behavior in human and nonhuman animals. Her research is also focused on animal welfare and studying the effectiveness of informal science education and enhancing STEM engagement. Courses generally taught include introductory psychology, animal behavior, cognitive neuroscience, and research design and methods.

Professional Activities

Dr. Perdue is deeply committed to service in the department as well as the profession. She has been elected as a Fellow of the Psychonomic Society as well as a Fellow of the Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. She serves as an ad-hoc reviewer and has been a member of the editorial board for a number of peer-reviewed journals. She has also engaged in advocacy for Psychological Science on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
