Co-Curricular Events
Engage with the wider world.
Agnes Scott offers a wide variety of co-curricular activities, both on and off campus, that focus on global citizenship and global learning. Our signature programs and upcoming events include:
Think Live Engage (TLE)
This signature program is an intergroup dialogue series that interweaves themes of global citizenship, social justice, and advocacy. TLE is an exciting opportunity for Agnes Scott faculty and staff to explore our intercultural connections and needs. The dialogues are designed to offer individuals strategic ways to engage in discussions related to a diverse range of topics connected with social identities (e.g., gender, class, faith, politics, sexuality, race, etc.).
Courageous Conversations
Open to all members of the ASC community, Courageous Conversations are one-on-one dialogue opportunities designed to foster mutual growth through open, respectful, and curiosity-driven exchange. These conversations are centered on listening to and learning from one another’s perspectives and experiences to deepen our collective understanding. All participants agree to a set of shared ground rules that help create a safe and supportive space. Through these conversations, participants work toward better understanding across differences, contributing to the intentional culture Agnes Scott College strives to uphold.
Trailblazer Talks
Trailblazer Talks are an extension of Courageous Conversations: a safe, inclusive space for ongoing dialogue. These gatherings invite all members of the Agnes Scott College community, regardless of perspective or background, to thoughtfully engage with the complex social, cultural, and global challenges of our time. Trailblazer Talks support the development of global awareness, intercultural understanding, and courageous community-building.
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King Commemorative Week of Human Rights and Social Justice
The Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King Commemorative Week is a weeklong series of programs and events commemorating the lives of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, continuing the dialogue around social justice and community change. Students participate in workshops, sessions led by invited guests, and a community-wide courageous conversations dinner centered on global and local challenges as well as ways we can ignite change.
Heritage/History Month Celebrations
At Agnes Scott College, we celebrate our rich campus diversity through targeted events for heritage/history months, from September to May, featuring guest speakers, lecture series, film series and service opportunities. These celebrations include, but are not limited to, Caribbean Heritage, Latinx Heritage, Indigenous Heritage, Black History, Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage, Jewish Heritage, as well as traditional holiday celebrations.
Multicultural Student Organization Programming
Multicultural and identity-based student organizations at Agnes Scott are leaders in helping to create a lively and globally-minded environment on campus. Events planned by student organizations highlight and celebrate many diverse cultural identities. Past events have included an International Night Market, an annual Global Night Fashion Show, as well as unique celebrations for Lunar New Year, Día De Los Muertos, Diwali, Holi, Water Festival, and more.
Interfaith and Religious Plurality Programming
Each year, the Interfaith Council and Office of Religious and Spiritual Life host a number of religious dialogue events, supporting the college’s belief in academic freedom, pluralism, and diversity. Lectures, workshops, small group discussions, community engagement projects, meals, social justice and advocacy, religious observance, and more happen every year.
