Summit STEM Scholars Program

Drive the Future of STEM

The Summit STEM scholars program builds on the ambition you already bring, connecting you with the faculty and research experiences that set you apart in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Agnes Scott graduates women in STEM at more than double the rate of similar institutions. You won’t spend four years fighting for a seat at the table. You’ll be expected to lead from the start.

Our STEM academics are rigorous, but you have the support to be successful in programs for:

  • Astrophysics

  • Biology

  • Biochemistry

  • Molecular Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Mathematics

  • Mathematics-physics

  • Neuroscience

  • Physics

Learn Among Leaders

As a Summit STEM scholar, you’ll move through your education hand-in-hand with 30 women who match your drive and challenge your thinking. Our 3-day Base Camp orientation program means you will jump in feet first before classes begin, finding friends and exchanging ideas with your peers. You’ll blend your professional development with daily life too, immersing yourself in your STEM cohort’s GEMS Living-Learning Community (GEMS LLC). Together, you’ll push each other further than you’ve gone before.

In Your Corner

Bring all of yourself.  An Agnes Scott faculty member in your field will know your name and invest in your growth throughout your college experience, plus help you select a scientific professional in the Atlanta area as your career mentor. You’ll be paired with a senior STEM student who understands your experience, have access to peer-led supplemental instruction at The Resource Center for Math and Science (RCMS), and be seen, supported and challenged in equal measure.

Arrive Ambitious, Leave Prepared

At the #1 most innovative liberal arts college in the country, the curriculum is built for the world you’re actually entering. That’s why our Summit STEM scholars are in Atlanta’s labs, clinics and nonprofits by sophomore year. The Sophomore Class Atlanta Leadership Experience (SCALE) program is your introduction to your professional community as a next-generation leader. You’ll get to do the work most students don’t start until after they graduate, earning your place on the shortlist for competitive research opportunities, internships and graduate programs.
