Opening Convocation and Senior Investiture

Senior Investiture is one the college’s oldest traditions. Originating hundreds of years ago in English universities, Senior Investiture began at Agnes Scott in 1908, our third year as a four-year college. This ceremony of investiture formally recognizes seniors as campus leaders. Each senior walks individually across the platform to be capped with an academic mortarboard as a symbol of her status. Selection as the Senior Investiture speaker is considered to be one of the highest compliments students can bestow on faculty members. The 2016 speaker will be Professor of French Philip A. Ojo.

Agnes Scott College cordially invites you to join us for Opening Convocation & Senior Investiture on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Convocation begins with an academic procession at 10:45 a.m. and the ceremony officially begins at 11 a.m. All guests should be seated in Presser Hall, Gaines Chapel, by 10:45 a.m.

A Celebratory Lunch will follow on the Presser Quadrangle (Letitia Pate Evans Hall in case of rain). Regular rates apply. Students on a meal plan and employees may pick up wristbands on Monday, August 22, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. in Evans Hall. $8.50 for parents and guests.
