Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Ciyadh Wells is currently pursing her Doctorate of Music Arts Degree from the University of Georgia.

She served as both a graduate teaching assistant graduate research assistant with Ideas for Creative Exploration (ICE), an initiative for interdisciplinary research in the arts at the University of Georgia. Her area of focus is the intersection between classical music, visual art, and the African diaspora. Ciyadh was recently awarded a Young People For community activist fellowship and a Diversity and Inclusion Graduate fellowship from the University of Georgia  for her work in her community. She maintains a career as an international concert guitarist and teaching artist. The Margins Guitar Collective is an initiative that Ciyadh founded in 2018 which focuses on commissioning works for guitar by diverse composers. Ciyadh is currently a member of the inaugural cohort of the Sphinx Organization’s LEADer program. Outside of performing, Ciyadh spends her time advocating for social and environmental justice movements and is working to become a more active leader in the community where she currently resides.
