Whether you choose the graduate certificate or the Master of Science degree, Agnes Scott’s Applied Technology program can help you gain the advanced skills you need to use design thinking and a systems-based, holistic approach to solve real-life technical challenges.

You’ll be able to effectively lead teams in a problem-solving environment, launching innovative technology solutions to address organizational challenges in fields from healthcare to education to information technology.

Program Overview

Applied Technology at Agnes Scott is ideal for those who love a challenge. Applied Technology requires creative thinking, a love for new approaches, and a curiosity for solving complicated needs using various systems.

In the Applied Technology Master of Science, and Graduate Certificate, you’ll learn to approach technical challenges from a holistic, systems perspective. Using human centered design-thinking, you’ll tackle complex technical challenges relevant to a variety of industries and occupations. You’ll get the hands-on and problem-based learning opportunities you need to practice solving real-world problems, just as you will in your career.

The Applied Technology curriculum includes core courses to ensure your foundation and an array of electives to sharpen your expertise.

Upon completion of your Applied Technology program, you’ll be a technical decision-maker, a leader of multidisciplinary teams, and a big picture thinker able to create and implement complex technological solutions. You’ll be ready to embark on a career as a tech leader in roles such as technology.

Carlee Bishop, Ph.D. has been named founding faculty director of the College’s new applied technology graduate program. Bishop holds a doctorate in systems engineering from Auburn University. She previously served as Executive Director of the Master’s of Applied Systems Engineering program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Bishop brings over 20 years of academic program leadership in Systems Engineering and Space Systems Design at Georgia Tech, in Astronautical Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and in C-141 Formal Flight Training Programs. Over her career, Bishop has established partnerships with General Electric, NASA, the Department of Defense and others to develop courses and programs that respond to real-world needs. She plans to implement experiential learning as a cornerstone of Agnes Scott’s graduate program.

Certificate Program

  • 6 courses (18 credit hours)*
  • 4 core courses, 2 electives
  • Classes are 2 hours and 30 minutes with a 15-minute break, and each meet once per week during the semester.

*Credits earned in the Graduate Certificate can apply toward the MS degree in Applied Technology
