About Shuronda Gardner Smith
The library began under the visionary leadership of former Assistant Dean of Students Shuronda Gardner Smith, who died suddenly in 2003. During her seven-year tenure, Smith earned the respect of the college community through a variety of initiatives including the development of the multicultural library, the purchasing of Kente cloth stoles for graduating seniors, coordination of the first-year initiative, serving on the President’s Committee for Community Diversity and developing the multicultural student council.
