Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Type: Tenure-track faculty
Department: Mathematics

The Agnes Scott College Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level beginning Fall 2013. Exceptionally qualified applicants may be considered at the associate professor level. All fields of mathematics and statistics will be considered. Candidates are expected to have completed the Ph.D. by July 1, 2013.

Applicants should be able to teach a wide range of mathematics courses, show evidence of excellent and committed teaching, have an ongoing program of scholarly work, be able to foster and supervise student research, and be willing to participate fully in the life of the department and the college. The teaching load is five semester courses per year.

The department offers three majors (mathematics, mathematics/economics, and mathematics/physics) and a minor. Many of our majors atten REUs and go on to graduate school in mathematics, statistics, economics, or physics. The college offers dual degree programs in computer science (Emory University) and engineering (Georgia Tech), and faculty have the opportunity to interact with these and other universities in Atlanta.

Application instructions and details will be included in our forthcoming ad on the American Mathematical Society's Employment Information in the Mathematical Sciences (EIMS) website. For more details about the Agnes Scott Department of Mathematics, see http://math.agnesscott.edu/.
