Review Cycle & Timelines

Reviews are scheduled in either Fall or Spring. Self-Study reports are due before the end of the semester in which the Review is scheduled. Site visits from external consultant(s), if requested, take place in the following semester (see examples below).

Timeline for Spring 2013 Review:

August, 2012:
- Chair/Director (C/D) meets with Associate Dean and Assessment Coordinator to review the process, discuss method and approach
- C/D requests Data Portfolio from Institutional Research & Assessment Coordinator
- C/D communicates with program faculty, staff, and students about the process, explaining the importance for participation
- C/D reviews and revises Program Assessment Plan as necessary

Sept-January, 2012-2013:
- C/D, program faculty and staff collect data through meetings, interviews, focus groups, and surveys
- C/D, program faculty and staff analyze data and develop a draft Self-Study

February, 2013:
- C/D submit draft Self-Study to program faculty, staff and students; Associate Dean; Academic Assessment Committee; Assessment Coordinator; and other interested parties for review and feedback. Academic Assessment Committee and Associate Dean provide feedback by end of February

Late March, 2013:
C/D submits final Self Study to Associate Dean of the College, meets with Associate Dean to discuss distilling Self Study into Action Plan

April 2013:
The entire department or program faculty meet with the VPAA and Dean of the College, the Associate Dean, and the Assessment Coordinator to develop/review Action Plan, and to discuss budget planning

May, 2013:
- Department/Program Faculty meet with the Assessment Coordinator to plan for implementing the Action Plan
