Academic Assessment Handbook

The purpose of this electronic handbook is to support academic assessment activities throughout the college. The three main legs of the colleges’ academic assessment are annual reports and plans, periodic program reviews, and general education assessment.

The annual Assessment Reports and Plans currently submitted by each academic department and program derive from and embody the Guiding Principles; they are also linked to and support the Department/Program Review process. This process begins with a Department/Program Action Plan, is used as a basis for completing annual Assessment Reports and Plans, which in turn is used as a basis for the Department/Program Review. Departments and Programs can begin with an initial Action Plan derived from their mission and recent Assessment Reports and Plans, and revise it in light of the Department/Program Review. In this way the annual Assessment Reports and Plans are closely linked to the Academic Program Reviews.
