Academic Assessment Committee

The Academic Assessment Committee is responsible for coordinating, facilitating and maintaining academic assessment practices in all academic departments, programs and centers in order to assure sound, evidence-based decision making, improve student learning, and strengthen departments/programs/centers. This includes reviewing and evaluating annual assessment plans and reports for all departments, programs and centers; monitoring best practices and providing appropriate support and training; maintaining assessment records and reporting changes that occur as a result of the assessment process; and creating a culture of continuous assessment-based improvements.

The committee provides assessment guidance, evaluates and assures compliance with yearly assessment reports and plans, coordinates department/program reviews with the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, and presents recommendations for how the college can improve student learning to the Curriculum Committee and, when appropriate, the Strategic Planning Coordinating Committee.

The committee is chaired by the Associate Dean of the College and includes the current chair of the Curriculum Committee, four faculty members appointed on a rotating basis, and the Academic Assessment Coordinator. The current committee is:
