SUMMIT reinvents a liberal arts education for the 21st century by preparing every student to be an effective change agent in a global society. Guided by a personal board of advisors, every student, regardless of major, designs an individualized course of study and co-curricular experiences that develop leadership abilities and understanding of complex global dynamics. Equipped with a rigorous liberal arts and sciences education, an understanding of complex global issues and the ability to lead strategically and honorably, Agnes Scott graduates are ready to scale the next SUMMIT.

Peak Week is the week that precedes Spring Break, and instead of classes, it is reserved for hands-on experiential learning around the themes of global learning, leadership development and post-Agnes success. Learn more about Peak Week here

Leadership Development

Within ASC’s mission of educating students to think deeply, live honorably, and engage the intellectual and social challenges of our times, students exercise leadership through processes of reflecting on individual strengths, identity, and power; analyzing evidence, perspectives, and systems; and acting authentically, boldly, and ethically.  Each Agnes Scott student completes coursework and experiences that help prepare them to be a leader in a global society.

Those who elect to complete the Leadership Development Specialization augment this foundational work with a personalized slate of courses in Leadership Studies, practical leadership experiences, and additional skills development.  Completion of the specialization is noted on their transcript.

Global Learning

Every Agnes Scott student completes introductory course work and a faculty-led study tour focused on understanding complex global dynamics, including culture and identity, colonialism, imperialism, and diaspora, as well as ethics of travel.

Students who elect to complete the Global Learning Specialization further hone their understanding of global structures, systems and processes through advanced course work and immersion experiences, leading to a notation on their transcript.

Board of Advisors

The Board of Advisors is an innovative team-based holistic advising model through which every student works with a four-year SUMMIT Advisor, peer advising, career advising, and a major advisor, collaborating to help the student integrate the many opportunities of SUMMIT into their learning journey.

Digital Literacy is infused throughout SUMMIT, which allows students to develop digital skills across the curriculum: it bridges Leadership Studies and Global Learning and prepares students for Post-Agnes Success. Students also curate a digital portfolio that is representative of their digital identity development and allows them to reflect upon, collect artifacts from, and showcase selected aspects of their unique learning journey.
