Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program

Cost of Attendance and Financial Aid

The 2020-2021 tuition for the post-baccalaureate pre-medical program is $925 per credit hour. All tuition and fees can be found on our website at agnesscott.edu/graddeposit.

Federal education loans and private loans may be available. If you are interested in applying for federal financial aid loans, you should complete a FAFSA (https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa) as soon as you apply to the program to check your eligibility for 5th year undergraduate federal funding. Additional options may be available from other lenders, which you can review at Elmselect (http://elmselect.com/#/).

Once admitted, students pay a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $350 which is applied to their first tuition bill. Admitted students can pay their deposit at here.
The application for the program is completed through the PostBacCAS. Check the PostBacCAS website for the application fees.

Admission

The post-bacc admission committee considers applicants based on all materials submitted in a complete application. An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher is recommended, in addition to GRE scores in the 50th percentile or higher for quantitative and verbal sections. See the full list of admission requirements online for more information.

Applications into this program must be submitted through the PostBacCAS common application system. All materials required for admission must be submitted through the PostBacCAS system.

  • Completed PostBacCAS application
  • Official transcripts showing completion of a 4-year undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution (An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 is recommended)
  • Two academic letters of recommendation (If you have been out of school for 2+ years, professional recommendations are accepted.)
  • One page statement of purpose
  • GRE Scores (less than 5-years old)

We have several application deadlines for applicants. Priority Deadline is December 1st, and applicants are encouraged to apply early for the best chance for consideration. Refer to our website for updated deadlines.

As a cohort program, applying early is an opportunity for early consideration into the program before seats are full. Other advantages to applying early include plenty of time to file your financial aid application, get your finances in order, find housing and prepare yourself for the first step toward this new endeavor.

Our committee does use a holistic review process. If your GPA is below the recommended 3.5, the admission committee considers other factors in its decision, including GRE scores that are above the 50th percentile for the verbal and quantitative sections and strong references.

All post-bacc pre-med applicants must submit GRE scores from within the past 5 years for a complete application. If you are planning to take the GRE to apply, be sure to review the requirements on the PostBacCAS website.

We recommend GRE scores for the verbal and quantitative sections at or above the 50th percentile. Visit ets.org/gre for testing site locations and times.

Our program is open to all majors, and is ideal for career changers and those who need their science prerequisites to apply to medical, dental or veterinary school.
You must not have taken more than four program courses from the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program curriculum. For example, if you have Chemistry I and II and Biology I and II on your transcript, you are still eligible for admission. However, if you have taken any additional courses that are included in our course sequence, you are not a candidate for the program.
Academics

Post-bacc classes follow a full-time schedule during weekdays. Typically, you will have classes in the morning and afternoons Monday-Friday, with labs two or three days per week from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There are no evening, online or Saturday class options. We do not recommend that our students hold a job while enrolled in the program.

Our program curriculum includes the science prerequisites needed to apply to medical, dental or veterinary school. You can review the curriculum here.
Our programs are offered in person, on purpose. We believe that connecting in the classroom with your peers and faculty greatly enhances your learning experience and helps you prepare for the rigors of a health professions program. You will have access to all of our on campus services and resources while in the program.

Our Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program provides a close-knit cohort of students who study together, share notes and ideas, and prepare for the MCAT together. Classes in the program are small and for post-bacc students only, allowing for personalized help in the classroom and hands-on engagement with class material.

This program’s rigor provides students the chance to build organization, time management, and study skills that prepares you for the intense pressure of a health professions school. Plus, a health professions advisor supports you throughout the program and with applying to medical, dental or veterinary school!
