Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program Curriculum

Our Post-Bacc Pre-Med (PBPM) program provides students with a strong foundation in the core science classes necessary to apply for medical, veterinary or dental school, as well as guidance through the medical school application and selection process.

This 13-month program consists of 35 credit hours over three-four semesters (May-May). After the spring semester, students prepare and submit medical school applications for entrance a year from August.

Students in this program attend class on a full-time basis to provide them with the rigorous academic study needed to prepare for medical school, as follows:

  • Summer Semester: Classes meet during the day, Monday - Thursday
  • Fall and Spring Semester: Classes meet during the day, Monday - Friday

CHE 150 INTRODUCTION TO CHEMISTRY (3 credits) - Corequisite: CHE 150L
CHE 150L BASIC LABORATORY METHODS (1 credit) - Corequisite: CHE 150

CHE 220 FOUNDATIONS OF INORGANIC AND PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY (3 credits) - Prereq: CHE 150, Coreq: CHE 220L
CHE 220L BASIC LABORATORY METHODS II (1 credit) - Corequisite: CHE 220

 

BIO 110 INTEGRATED BIOLOGY with LAB (4 credits)
CHE 240 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY I (4 credits) - Prerequisite: CHE 220 and CHE 220L
PHY 102 ELEMENTS OF PHYSICS I with LAB (4 credits)

BIO 111 INTEGRATED BIOLOGY with LAB (4 credits) - Prerequisite: BIO 110
CHE 340 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY II with LAB (4 credits) - Prerequisite: CHE 240
PHY 103 ELEMENTS OF PHYSICS II with LAB (4 credits)- Prerequisite: PHY 102

CHE 305 PBPM MEDICAL BIOCHEMISTRY (3 credits)

Below is a list of some requirements for the PBPM program of study. For a comprehensive look at the Post-Bacc Pre-Med program admission and program requirements, review the current academic catalog.

  • All courses in the PBPM program must be taken for a letter grade: P/F and Audit options are not possible for any course in the program.
  • PBPM students may not take any other courses at ASC outside of the PBPM courses, or remain on campus to take courses once their cohort is complete.
  • A minimum of 5 courses from our program must be taken for a post-bacc to be considered for a medical school committee letter from our office.
  • Committee letters are only prepared for students for up to two years after completion of our program.
