General Graduate Application Requirements

The application and details for admission into the 2024 graduate communication master's and graduate certificate programs will be available on September 15, 2023.

Graduate Program Application Requirements

Apply now for consideration into our master's or graduate certificate programs listed below. These programs are offered as hybrid and online graduate programs. International applicants should plan to complete the above programs fully online, and are not eligible to be considered for an I-20 issued by Agnes Scott College.

GPA Recommendation

3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average recommended. All undergraduate and graduate coursework, whether included in the GPA calculation from your degree-granting institution or not, will be considered when determining the cumulative GPA for admission to this program.

In addition to a completed online application, the materials listed below should be submitted for the application review.

Letters of Recommendation

Enter the full contact information and email address for at least two recommenders. Recommenders should be either academic or professional references.

Once entered, your recommenders will receive an email from Agnes Scott College Admission (admission@agnesscott.edu). Letters of recommendation must be submitted directly by your recommenders. Personal references or letters submitted by the applicant will not be considered.

Statement of Purpose

Your statement of purpose should explain your reason for applying to a graduate program at Agnes Scott and provide us with information about your career goals and how the program will help you reach those goals. We encourage you to cite relevant professional, academic and personal experience that led you to apply and prepared you for the program.

The statement should not exceed 800 words and must be written in English. Upload to your online application before or after you submit the online application.

Professional Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Your resume or CV should include relevant employment history, internships, and/or volunteer work. Upload to your online application before or after you submit your online application.

Transcript(s)

Transcripts are required from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended, whether you completed a degree at that institution or not, with one showing completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.

Transcripts from U.S. Institutions:

Submit official or copies of official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate coursework. Transcripts should be from a regionally accredited college or university within the United States. We do not require high school transcripts.

Copies of transcripts can be uploaded directly to your application portal after submission or sent electronically to gradadmission@agnesscott.edu. We recommend all submissions be sent electronically. If it is not possible to send electronically, they can be sent via mail to the address below. Please note: mailed documents will delay application processing.

If transcripts are from a non-U.S. institution, an official Evaluation of Foreign Credentials is required along with copies of transcripts.

  • All applicants that attended a non-U.S. institution must be able to document their degree as being equivalent to that of a four-year bachelor’s degree awarded by an accredited United States college or university.
  • Regardless of the country of origin or native language, applicants must have their foreign credentials evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (naces.org).
  • The evaluation must include: course by course description, documenting equivalence to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree (or the number of years toward completion and grade point average).
  • Evaluations need to be submitted directly to Agnes Scott Graduate Admission to gradadmission@agnesscott.edu from the evaluating member organization for admission consideration.

Writing Sample (Strategic Communication only)

Applicants applying to the Writing and Digital Communication master’s or certificate programs need to provide a writing sample, totaling 10-15 pages and written in English. Writing samples can be from a variety of genres and formats, but should showcase what you believe to best reflect your current writing ability. You may submit a combined collection of work, an excerpt from a longer piece or one complete written piece.

You must upload a pdf of your writing sample to the application portal after you submit your online application.

English Language Proficiency

The English language proficiency requirement at Agnes Scott can be met through one of the following ways:

  1. Your country of origin is one of the following countries: Anguilla, Antigua/Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), the Grenadines, Guam, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica/other West Indies, Liberia, Montserrat, New Zealand, South Africa, St. Helena, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos, United Kingdom, United States
  2. You have earned a bachelor’s or master's degree from a U.S. institution of higher education
  3. You have submitted satisfactory scores as noted below for Duolingo, TOEFL or IELTS. Scores are only valid within 2 years from the test. Copies of score reports can be submitted to your application portal after application submission for application review. Official score reports should be sent by the testing organization to gradadmission@agnesscott.edu.
    • Duolingo English Test (DET)- Recommended minimum score is 110
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)- Recommended minimum score is 6.5
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)- Recommended minimum score of 80

Submitting Materials

Upload your statement of purpose and professional resume/CV directly into the online application form before submitting. You also have the option to upload additional materials through the online application portal after submitting your application.

If you are not able to upload something, we recommend sending materials electronically to gradadmission@agnesscott.edu.
