Decatur, GA, Sept. 12, 2017—Agnes Scott College is ranked No. 2 in the country among national liberal arts colleges in the Most Innovative Schools listing in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 edition of Best Colleges. Making the list for the second year in a row, the college moved up two spots from last year.
The Most Innovative Schools ranking identifies “schools that the public should be watching because of the cutting-edge changes being made on their campuses.” It is based on a peer assessment survey in which college presidents, provosts and admissions deans nominate up to 10 colleges or universities “that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities.”
Agnes Scott is also recognized by U.S. News for its Study Abroad and First-Year Experience programs, “stellar examples” of enriching educational offerings that support student success. Acknowledging the educational benefits of learning to collaborate in a global culture with people of different backgrounds, U.S. News listed Agnes Scott among the top national liberal arts colleges for both ethnic diversity and enrollment of international students.
“We are excited to be named a Most Innovative School again this year and even more so to have risen in our ranking. Our signature approach to a liberal arts education, SUMMIT, has transformed our college and has strengthened our reputation as an institution creatively responding to the changing higher education landscape,” said President Elizabeth Kiss. “Under the two pillars of SUMMIT—global learning and leadership development—our study abroad and first-year programs have been enhanced, providing more deeply meaningful, engaging and immersive experiences for students.”
While ranking No. 61 overall, nine spots higher than last year, Agnes Scott is No. 22 among those colleges identified as a best value based on the school's academic quality and the net cost of attendance for those receiving the average level of need-based financial aid.
President Kiss continued, “We are very proud to have been named one of the top 25 'Great Schools, Great Prices' every year for the past 10 years. This ranking recognizes Agnes Scott's commitment to access in higher education for all qualified students.”

The college recently launched its newest scholarship program, the Elizabeth Kiss Trailblazer Scholarship, for students who excel in academics, character and personal achievement and meet set criteria for high school G.P.A. or SAT/ACT scores.
