Travel and Arrival

The excitement of arriving in Atlanta after nearly a year of preparation is often mixed with the anxiety of landing in the world’s busiest airport, the Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This section is intended prepare students for their travel to the United States and to Agnes Scott College.

Travel Information

Destination: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. (ATL)

Campus move-in day in August 14, 2017. Students will not be allowed to move-into campus before the move-in date. Residence halls WILL NOT be available before move-in day (August 14). Students arriving before this date must make arrangements to stay off-campus. The mandatory  International Student Orientation will promptly  begin the following morning on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

Travel and Arrival Form

After purchasing their plane ticket, students are required to complete the Travel and Arrival Form in Carta with a detailed itinerary of their flight information including: departure flight name, flight number, connection flight with the departure and arrival times in each city that is a part of your journey to Atlanta. This form must be completed no later than July 1, 2017. Students can indicate on the Travel and Arrival Form if they would like transportation from the airport to campus. However, transportation is not guaranteed for submission later than July 1st.

Arrival Information

Arrival at a U.S. Port of Entry

Students should have the following documents in their carry on bags ready to show to the port-of-entry (immigration) officer when going through U.S. border and customs:

  • Passport
  • Immigration documents (I-20 or DS-2019)
  • Admission Letter from Agnes Scott College
  • Financial Documents:

Customs forms will be distributed on the flight for passengers to complete. The immigration officer will stamp your passport to indicate your arrival date and airport location in the United States. Transportation to Campus

The Center for Global Learning will make arrangements for any new international student needing transportation from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (or a local hotel) ONLY on move-in day: August 14, 2017. Students arriving before the  move-in day must make other transportation arrangements to campus.

Campus Move-in Day

International students are expected to arrive on  Monday, August 14, 2017. Check-in time begins at 9:00 a.m. and will go on all day and into the evening. A mandatory orientation for new international students is from Tuesday, August 15 through Thursday, August 17. During move-in day, students will   receive their dorm room keys, campus ID and other information. Click here to learn more information about student housing.
