2019 Commencement Ceremony

The 2019 Commencement Ceremony

On May 11 the Agnes Scott College community celebrated as the class of 2019 transitioned to alumnaehood at the one hundred and thirtieth commencement ceremony. Senior (now alumna) Mallika Balakrishnan '19 made college history with the first-ever commencement student speech. In the address, Balakrishnan charged her peers to "go forth with the conviction to work for the liberation of those around [them] and those who may be oceans away."

Alumna, recent Forbes 30 under 30 honoree and famed artist, Jordan Casteel '11, gave the commencement address. In the speech, Casteel urged the graduates to paint their own futures and to "trust that [they] have all the colors [they] need for [their] painting, and use them fearlessly to create a life that may at times be light, dark, or blurry, but certainly well-lived for the common good."

Congratulations to the class of 2019. Check out photos from the special day below!
