Services Overview
Services at the Warren Student Health Center are provided by full-time nurse practitioners. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced education and clinical training. As health care providers, our nurses:
- Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat common health problems such as infections and minor injuries
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies such as lab work and X-rays
- Prescribe and recommend medications in collaboration with a physician
- Provide health counseling and education
Cost of Services
Student health visits are free of charge. Additional services provided on campus such as laboratory tests and immunizations will be billed either to the student's account or Markel Insurance. The nurse practitioners may refer students to consulting medical staff at any time; the physician will discuss fees with the student at the time of service.
Confidentiality
All medical records and clinical consultations are confidential. Records cannot be released without the written consent of the student.
Class Absence
The Student Health Center does not issue excuses for missed classes.
