Scottie Tennis Receives Honors During Championship Season

The Agnes Scott tennis team returned to the NCAA Championships for a second straight year in 2010, after capturing their second consecutive Great South Athletic Conference championship and third overall.
The GSAC championship came down to the final match, as the Scotties defeated Huntingdon, 5-4. It was the second consecutive year that the Scotties defeated the Hawks to capture the title.
In their opening round match at the NCAA Championships, Agnes Scott fell to Methodist to end their season.
Agnes Scott recorded an 11-8 overall record and 7-1 conference mark. The Scotties finished the season ranked 12th in the Atlantic South Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. Numerous players received post-season honors for their performances.
First-year Rachel Storz was named the GSAC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and was both an All-Conference and All-Freshman selection.
Storz finished the season undefeated in conference play and was ranked 16th in the Atlantic South Region by the ITA rankings. Storz also teamed with Danielle Patton to rank 15th in the region for doubles play.
Joining Storz on the All-Conference Team were Natalie Mayer, Shamonique Jones and Amanda Chaffin. Hannah Kraus was also named to the GSAC All-Freshman Team.
Nikitris Deloach, along with Chaffin and Jones were named to the GSAC All-Academic Team.
