Agnes Scott Tennis Falls In NCAA Championships

The Agnes Scott tennis team fell to Emory, 5-0 in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Friday at Sewanee, The University of the South.

The loss ends the Scotties' season with a record of 14-3. Emory, ranked #3 in the country, advances to face #18 Sewanee in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships on Saturday at Sewanee.

In Friday's match, Agnes Scott fell behind early, dropping all three of the doubles matches. The Scotties lost at second and third singles to bring about the final margin of defeat.

The loss ends one of the most successful seasons in Scottie tennis history. It was just the second time in school history that Agnes Scott advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championships.

Agnes Scott won their fourth Great South Athletic Conference tennis championship this year. It was the third year in a row the Scotties captured the GSAC title. During the three-peat season, the Scotties also garnered GSAC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year honors.
