About:

The Alma Buchanan Collaborative Research Fund was established in 2000 by a gift from the Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation. 

Income from the endowment may be used to support academic collaborative research involving faculty and students.  The recipients of the awards shall be selected based on their qualifications and the merits of their proposals.  The criteria for judging the merits of the proposals shall include the ability of the project to further scholarship in a given field and the extent to which the project directly involves students in the research process in significant ways. 

 

Applications Due:

1 February (annually) at 5:00 p.m. Atlanta time

When the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date is the first business day after the 1st.

Amount:

Varies

Project period:

For summer projects, from date of award through 31 August (of the same calendar year)

For academic year projects, from date of award through 30 June (of the next calendar year)

Who is Eligible:

All faculty members who are working directly with students and involving them in the research project.  

Activities Funded:

Collaborative research involving students in the research process in significant ways in projects that will further scholarship in a given field. 

Who reviews proposals:

Agnes Scott College’s Professional Development Committee (PDC)

Who awards funds:

VPAA/DOC upon recommendation from the PDC

Final report due:

30 September (by email to OSP@agnesscott.edu)
