NSF Policy Update for CLASP 2014

ATTENDEES: Please complete the CLASP 2014 Evaluation!

CLASP (Colleges of Liberal Arts Sponsored Programs) was formed in 1996 as an informal discussion group for liberal arts college professionals whose responsibilities include aiding faculty and staff in the search for and management of external funding support.  CLASP currently has 353 members representing 192 institutions. CLASP membership within individual institutions is diverse with members located in various offices including foundation and corporate relations, provost, dean of faculty, controller/treasurer and other administrative and academic units. Members are responsible for some or all "sponsored research" management activities at their institutions.

CLASP is primarily focused on issues relative to small liberal arts institutions, although the same issues may also be faced by larger research universities. Our purpose is to provide a resource for sponsored research administrators at liberal arts colleges that will promote and strengthen our members' ability to respond to research support and policy issues as they arise.

AGENDA for CLASP 2014 - most current version

Registration fee for the 2014 meeting is $150.  Registration is now closed for CLASP 2014.  Registration includes an opening reception on Wednesday, all meals on Thursday, and breakfast and lunch on Friday. We will also offer a very special entertainment option on Thursday evening that is included in registration--you don't want to miss it!  We are committed to sustainable practices and will not print conference materials. Bring your laptop or tablet (or even your phone!) to access the agenda and other handouts.

The meeting hotel is the Decatur Conference Center Courtyard by Marriott, which is located a short walk from the Agnes Scott College Campus. The room block for CLASP is closed, now.  If you call the hotel, use these codes:  CLACLAA (for a room with one king bed) or CLACLAB (for a room with two queen beds).

Travel Arrangements:
You'll fly into the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Our subway system, MARTA, runs from inside the airport to downtown Decatur, and the hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the MARTA station. The MARTA train is $2.50 each way plus a dollar to buy your Breeze Card. You'll take the Northbound train (the only one leaving the airport) and change trains at Five Points Station. Take the Eastbound train to Decatur. Stay tuned for walking directions to the hotel from the Decatur station.

If you want to take a taxi, that's also fine, but Atlanta traffic is a bear! The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Agnes Scott College, so we suggest walking each day. However, we will provide a shuttle back to the hotel on Thursday night, which will be a late night.

RACC Body of Knowledge Review Session:
If you would like to participate in the RACC Body of Knowledge Review Session for the CRA exam, you must pay a separate registration. Visit RACC to register for the review session.
