Advantage Awards by Admission

Students who received the Award at the time of Admission to Agnes Scott may request their funds for any qualified program that takes place after the student has completed 4 semesters and 60 credit hours at Agnes Scott. The following documents are required when requesting funds:

1) Essay/proposal: the prompt is different for each activity: 

  • INTERNSHIP. Attach a brief (1-2 page, 400-600 word) proposal about the internship you will complete. In your proposal, you should:
    -Describe the company or non-profit in which you will be interning and the internship position that you will be completing.
    -Explain how this internship experience will relate to and benefit your academic and professional objectives.
    -Describe the supervision that will be provided during your internship.
    -Separately, you must also include with your proposal a summarized budget detailing how the funds will be used.
  • MENTORED RESEARCH. Attach a brief, 2-3 page (500-750 word), description of the project you will undertake with your Advantage Award funding. Indicate when and where you will conduct this work, and explain the key questions, methodology, and goals of your project. Separately you will include a line-item budget detailing how the funds will be used.

2) Download the budget template and complete it to the best of your ability. You will upload it when you complete the online application. The total may be more or less than $3,000 and should reflect all anticipated expenses necessary to complete the program. Do not include optional expenses, such as spending money.  

YOU WILL NEED TO COMBINE ALL YOUR FILES (BUDGET, PROPOSAL, ETC) INTO ONE DOCUMENT. YOU CAN DO THIS USING ADOBE ACROBAT, OR IN WINDOWS EXPLORER, HOLD THE SHIFT KEY AND CLICK ON ALL THE DOCUMENTS. THEN RIGHT-CLICK, SELECT "SEND TO," THEN SELECT "COMPRESSED (ZIPPED) FOLDER." NAME THE FILE USING YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME AND SAVE. YOU CAN UPLOAD THIS ZIP FILE AT THE END OF THE APPLICATION.
