Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Professor Schlig specializes in the literature and culture of 18th- through 21st-century Spain. His previous scholarship examined the mirror metaphor in literary aesthetics and the portrayal of intellectuals in the works of novelist Benjamín Jarnés and filmmaker Juan Antonio Bardem. His current research focuses on the portrayal of Spaniards in Ibero-American films.
