Mother's Day for Peace

Laura Turner Seydel will be the keynote speaker at Georgia WAND (Women’s Action for New Directions)'s Mother's Day for Peace event Sunday, April 28, at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in Gaines Chapel, Presser Hall. Special guests include mother and daughter spoken word artists, Alice Lovelace and Theresa Davis, as well as Agnes Scott student performances.

The event is free for Agnes Scott students who register and $50 for non-students. Tickets and registration are available at A reception in Rebekah Scott Hall with Laura Turner Seydel will follow the event.

Seydel is an international environmental advocate and eco-living expert dedicated to creating a healthy and sustainable future. She is chairperson of the Captain Planet Foundation, which promotes environmental education and gardens in schools, and former chair of Zero Waste Zone, an organization that promotes communities working together to change current disposal methods of consumed products. She also co-founded Mothers and Others for Clean Air and the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
