Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Dr. Blockson is an organizational effectiveness scholar who conducts research on minority-owned businesses, women in business/management, entrepreneurial ethics, and urban economic development. She was a co-investigator on a Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation-funded study regarding the success and growth factors of African-American women-led entrepreneurial ventures and has contributed to National Science Foundation-funded studies on social innovation and social venturing. Before joining the Agnes Scott faculty, she taught at Florida International University, the University of Northern Iowa, and the College of Charleston. Dr. Blockson also serves as a Research Fellow with Rutgers Business School's Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. Her teaching areas include social innovation, entrepreneurship principles, business and society/business ethics, strategic management, nonprofit management and philanthropy, and project management.
