Molly Saunders '12

I am currently pursuing a M.A. in Children's Literature and a M.S. in Library and Information Sciences at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. Meanwhile, I am working as a tutor in the college's Writing Center, and as a substitute children's and teen librarian at the Watertown Free Public Library. I am extremely lucky to be bridging my academic and professional interests through my two degrees. Not only am I learning professional skills, but I am also able to engage in research within the field of children's literature. I recently presented at the 2016 International Conference of the Children's Literature Association, and in the fall, I will begin an editorial internship at The Horn Book, the oldest children's literature review journal in the country. I know that I would not be nearly as successful in my endeavors if it weren't for the rigorous analytical writing and research skills that I developed as a Classics student at Agnes Scott. I also bring a body of knowledge about mythology, history, and language to my work and studies that continuously surprises me with its relevance and breadth. I know that my education will continue to assist me as I move forward as both a librarian and a scholar, and I am endlessly grateful for my experiences at Agnes Scott.
