Charis at Agnes Scott College is an innovative partnership that relocates Charis Books & More and Charis Circle to the Agnes Scott campus to serve the college community, the city of Decatur, and Charis’ existing customers and constituents. Through this partnership, Agnes Scott students, staff, faculty, alumnae, and their guests will have ready access to: the books and events for which Charis is famous; the store’s beautifully renovated, extended hours programming/community space; Charis’ intergenerational community of life-long learners and social change leaders; and college-branded merchandise and clothing, toiletries, school supplies, snacks and drinks. Charis will remain independent financially and in its leadership and programming while weaving its offerings into the culture of campus life.

Agnes Scott College has elected to use an online resource for textbooks. Online textbook sales – especially at small colleges – have become the norm as more and more students recognize the cost-savings and increased choices available online (e.g., electronic versions of textbooks, rental options, comparing prices across vendors) as opposed to buying their textbooks at physical stores. Faculty members will post information about textbooks for their classes prior to the start of each semester through Follett, and Agnes Scott students may then order their textbooks from Follett or any vendor of their choice.

The college is in negotiation with Follett about how best to do this. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

In addition to the wonderful mix of books and gifts from its Little Five Points location, Charis at Agnes Scott College will carry most items that were sold in the Alston bookstore, with the exception of textbooks. Featured items will include Agnes Scott College-branded merchandise and clothing, toiletries, school supplies, snacks and drinks. If you have ideas or requests for items the store should carry, please contact Angela Gabriel at angela@charisbooksandmore.com.

Charis at Agnes Scott College will sell official Agnes Scott College merchandise in its store and soon on its website. Select Agnes Scott merchandise also is available for purchase online through Follett.

Charis Circle hosts a diverse slate of events and is excited to collaborate with members throughout the ASC community.
