Welcome to the Agnes Scott Arboretum, certified as a Level I arboretum in the Arbnet Arboretum Accreditation Program of the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois.

The Agnes Scott Arboretum provides an interactive, interdisciplinary tree tour through the beautiful campus of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. The featured topics are inspired by the liberal arts curriculum of Agnes Scott College. In keeping with the College’s commitment to the liberal arts, the Agnes Scott Arboretum invites visitors to reflect on the complex connections between trees and humans and the integral role that trees play in our lives.

Everyone, it seems, loves Agnes Scott’s wonderful trees. Many alumnae cannot imagine a more appropriate way to honor the memory of a deceased classmate than to ask the College to dedicate a newly planted tree to her. In addition, long-serving members of the faculty and staff are given the option of declining a gift of appreciation from the College and having a tree planted for them instead.

Recently, on the occasion of their 50th Reunion, the Class of 1965 raised funds to establish a living memorial to classmates who have died. This ‘Ruby Red’ nuttall oak now graces the lawn in front of Buttrick Hall and McCain Library.
