You Can Help the Office of Internship and Career Development Support Students and Recent Graduates During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The support the Office of Internship and Career Development has felt from our extended Scottie community has been powerful in this uncertain time. You have stepped up with emergency funds, housing, advice on Linkedin and so much more. We are deeply grateful. Now, we move into summer, and we need to ask for your help again.

  • Posting Jobs and Internships:
Our campus now uses Handshake to post job and internship opportunities. If you are a hiring manager or your company already has a Handshake account, you may post your opportunity on Handshake here. For assistance with an existing employer Handshake account, please contact your Human Resources department.

  • Entry-level roles, contract jobs or paid internships for our graduates:
We are actively working to identify sectors that are still growing and hiring. If you have an open position at your company or organization (including short-term projects and other temporary work opportunities), please post your opportunity on Handshake. If you have any questions, please contact our Employer & Student Relations Coordinator, Marisol Zacarias at

  • Internships or short-term projects (paid or unpaid) for current students:
Many organizations have had to cancel internship programs due to work-from-home orders. Due to current guidelines, most students are interested in remote work so that they do not put themselves or family members at risk. If you are in a position to take on a paid or unpaid intern, please post your opportunity on Handshake. If you have any questions, please contact our Internship Coach, Tomeka Stephens at

  • We are Reinventing Summer 2020 with new virtual offerings:
We are launching a Weekly Webinar Series featuring alumnae talking about professional topics or sharing insights on their industries or jobs. If you are willing to participate in a panel, please make sure you are signed up for our Summit Career Connect network of alumnae. Tag a Scottie friend who is in the same industry to do it together, and email Irene Foran, Career Coach, at to let her know your willingness to participate.

In July, we are considering Virtual Bootcamps to teach skills like Microsoft Excel, grant writing, or introductions to CRMs (like Salesforce). If you are willing to offer a session for students or participate on a weekly panel, please email Dawn Killenberg, Center Director, at

In this age of work-from-home, we realize alumnae may want to join our webinars to learn from their peers about career topics or opportunities. Please watch for the Reinventing Summer 2020 schedule which we will share via social media soon.
