Anna I. Young Alumnae House

Located on the east side of Agnes Scott College’s beautiful campus, the Anna I Young Alumnae House offers guest rooms and event spaces for rental to alumnae, friends and the greater community.

Built in 1921, the Anna I. Young Alumnae House was the first alumnae house in the Southeast and the second in the United States. It is named for Anna I. Young, an alumna and professor of mathematics from 1895 to 1920. In 2009, major renovations to the Anna I. Young Alumnae House, were completed. Enhancements included updates to guest rooms, ADA accessibility and the return of the Tea Room to its original purpose as an event space.

Supporting the college’s sustainability commitment, the building is the first project on campus to be designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the national rating system for “green buildings.” The house is expected to be the first LEED-certified building in the city of Decatur.
