All reservations are made on a first come, first serve basis and must be made at least 48 hours in advance of requested check-in. If checking in on Friday or Saturday there is a two night minimum. The house cancellation policy requires at least 48 hours notice. Last minute cancellations and “no shows” will be billed a $50 cancellation fee. Guest rooms are $85/night single occupancy or $95/night double occupancy. The downstairs event spaces come as a package and are priced at $800 per day. All rentals are subject to 7% sales tax, and a 3% convenience fee is applied to credit card payments.
Check-in time is 3 p.m. For your convenience, keys are held at our Public Safety office located at the parking deck on S. McDonough St. Keys are not available before 3 p.m. and are not distributed at the house.
The check-out time is promptly at 10 a.m. without exception. There is a $50 penalty for all late check-outs. Keycards with attached room key should be placed in the key drop box next to the bottom of the stairs along with your payment.
The Anna I. Young Alumnae House is a historic home located in a residential area. We ask that you please observe quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. as a courtesy to other guests and our neighbors.
The downstairs space is open to all guests, unless there is an event scheduled during your stay. If there is not an event happening, please feel free to enjoy the living room, dining room and/or tea room.
The Anna I. Young Alumnae House is a non-smoking facility and you must be at least 20 feet away from the building to smoke. Please refrain from smoking on the back patio.
All guests must be at least 10 years old to stay in the house and must be accompanied by an adult.
Students are asked not to visit their male guests upstairs. The living room area may be used as a date parlor. Thank you for your cooperation.
Pets are not allowed in the house.
Built in 1921, the Anna I. Young Alumnae House was the first alumnae house in the Southeast and the second in the United States. It is named for Anna I. Young, an alumna and professor of mathematics from 1895 to 1920.
In 2009, major renovations to the Anna I. Young Alumnae House, were completed. Enhancements included updates to guest rooms, ADA accessibility and the return of the Tea Room to its original purpose as an event space.
Supporting the college’s sustainability commitment, the building is the first project on campus to be designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the national rating system for “green buildings.” The house is expected to be the first LEED-certified building in the city of Decatur.
