Our Campus & City
The College Town of Atlanta
Atlanta is well known for being home to a large number of colleges. While Agnes Scott students enjoy individual attention on our campus, they also have access to cross registration and social events with our affiliate Atlanta and Georgia colleges such as Emory University, Georgia Tech and Georgia State, just to name a few.
Atlanta’s Cultural Attractions
As the urban center of the Southeast, Atlanta offers Agnes Scott students world-class arts and cultural events in its museums and theatres. From the Atlanta Ballet to the Atlanta Zoo, our students have endless possibilities to pursue their interests and discover new ones.
Internships and Job Opportunities
Another benefit to living near Atlanta is the multitude of experiential, hands-on opportunities. Our students can participate in exciting internships while living on campus and get a head start on their job search before graduation.
College Life in Decatur
Agnes Scott’s campus is located in the town of Decatur, an historic city of “homes, schools and places of worship,” and is only minutes away by car from Atlanta. Decatur offers eclectic shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The Music Scene
Just a few minutes walk from campus, Agnes Scott students can listen to famous and up-and-coming singer/songwriters at Eddie’s Attic or have a picnic at one of Decatur’s concerts on the square. Jennifer Nettles ’97 of Sugarland performed at Eddie’s Attic during her time at Agnes Scott. Only a short drive away, Atlanta offers music venues to suit every taste and is especially well known for its hip-hop scene.
Weather in the South
One of the best features of living in Georgia is the weather. With an average high of 52°F (11°C) in January and 89°F (32°C) in July, our students enjoy plenty of study time outdoors on our beautiful quad lawn.
