Grant of Power
Each student of Agnes Scott College
is a member of the Student Government Association. The association was
founded and given a grant of power from the faculty in 1906. As
students assumed increasing responsibility, they were given a larger
grant of power by the Board of Trustees in 1923. The student body
elects SGA officers as well as the officers and representatives of
Honor Court, Student Senate, Judicial Board and the Orientation
Council.
The SGA constitution establishes the basis for self-government. The
Student Senate, Honor Court and Judicial Board act through power
delegated to them by the SGA in accordance with this constitution. The
Student Senate incurs legislative and executive powers affecting all
students. The Honor Court serves as a judicial body in matters relating
to the Honor System. The Judicial Board has executive powers and
encompasses the Judicial Board's powers relating to resident hall life.
These organizations work in tandem to ensure the application of student
government and the Honor System under the leadership of the Officers of
the Association as defined in Articles II & IV.
