American Chemical Society
The American Chemical Society Student Affiliates Organization offers opportunities for students to become better acquainted with the chemical sciences. This organization intends to secure the intellectual stimulation that arises from its professional association with the American Chemical Society. Members may obtain experience in preparing and presenting technical material before audiences interested in chemistry and may participate in various community service projects. The chapter strives to instill professional pride in the chemical sciences and promotes an awareness of the responsibilities and challenges of the modern chemist. Beta Beta Beta - Biological Honor Society
Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is a society for students that fosters learning in the field of biology. The society is dedicated to cultivating intellectual interest in the natural sciences and promotes appreciation of biological study through its goals of stimulating scholarship, disseminating scientific knowledge and promoting biological research. TriBeta welcomes both biology majors and those with an interest in biology as members. The Sigma Upsilon Chapter of Beta Beta Beta at Agnes Scott College has activities throughout the year ranging from social gatherings to scientific meetings. Contact Sarita Patel.

Omicron Delta Epsilon
Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Economics Honor Society, was created in 1963. Agnes Scott College’s chapter, Mu of Georgia, was established in 1993. ODE strives to recognize scholastic attainment in economics and establish closer ties between students and faculty in economics. The Agnes Scott chapter meets these objectives by engaging in various activities around campus including an economics table, social events, current topic colloquia and field trips to places such as the Federal Reserve Bank. Election into Omicron Delta Epsilon is available for economics students with junior and senior standing who meet eligibility criteria based on their GPA. Contact Dr. Edward Sayre.

Phi Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa, America's most prestigious scholastic organization, was founded in 1776. Agnes Scott chapter, Beta of Georgia, dates from 1926. Phi Beta Kappa encourages and recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement of undergraduate and graduate students in the liberal arts. Election to membership is based on a number of criteria, including grade point ratio. A limited number of seniors are considered each year for membership. The electors of the chapter are the Agnes Scott faculty, staff and administrators who are Phi Beta Kappa members. Contact Professor Willie Tolliver.

Phi Sigma Tau
Phi Sigma Tau was incorporated as a national honor society in philosophy in 1955. The Agnes Scott chapter, Gamma of Georgia, was reactivated in September of 1982. The purposes of the society are "to serve as a means of awarding distinction to students having high scholarship and personal interest in philosophy, to provide opportunities for the publication of student research papers of merit, to encourage a professional spirit and friendship among those who have displayed marked ability in this field and to popularize interest in philosophy among the general collegiate public." Pi Delta Phi
Pi Delta Phi declared itself the National French Honor Society in 1925, almost 20 years after its inception at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1906. The purpose of the society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in French language and literature, to increase the knowledge and admiration of Americans for the contributions of France to world culture, and to stimulate and encourage cultural activities which will lead to a deeper appreciation of France and its people. Psi Chi
Psi Chi, is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualification. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society. Contact Kristin Miller.

Sigma Alpha Iota
Sigma Alpha Iota music service fraternity is an organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. Newly organized, the Gamma Eta chapter sponsors informal and formal recitals featuring students in the music department and its members serve where they are needed as stage managers, ushers and door monitors. In addition to personal encouragement and support, members may receive scholarships and awards in many areas and at all levels of music-related study. Sigma Alpha Iota has long been recognized as a leader in the field of music and provides a lifetime of important connections. To be a member, you must be enrolled in or have taken at least one music class and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Contact Samantha Casne or Alice Hudson.

Sigma Delta Pi
Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispanica) was established in 1919 at the University of California at Berkeley to recognize scholarship in Spanish language and literature of Spain and Latin America. The Agnes Scott chapter, Sigma Chi, was established in 1992. Election to membership is based on completion of a set number of Spanish courses, class rank and grade point average.
