Agnes Scott College offers countless opportunities and programs to develop the leadership skills to affect positive change and inspire others to make a difference in the world.
Dana Leadership Scholars are Agnes Scott students who exhibit exceptional leadership and academic achievement.
Emerging Leaders is a program offered to selected students who have been identified as first-year leaders on campus. These young leaders have the opportunity to participate in a multi-week program that exposes them to different leadership topics and situations in order to refine their leadership skills.
Health Education Resource Organization (H.E.R.O.)
H.E.R.O. is dedicated to the health and well-being of students at Agnes Scott College. Its members strive to be active in the campus community to promote health education in the form of inspirational, accessible programs pertinent to the contemporary college woman in all of her forms. H.E.R.O. members value active leadership, active membership and integrity.
Mortar Board is a national senior honor society comprised of more than 150 chapters. The purposes of Mortar Board are "to provide for cooperation among [the Mortar Board] societies, to support the ideals of the college, to advance the spirit of scholarship, to recognize and encourage leadership and to provide the opportunity for a meaningful exchange of ideas as individuals and as a group."
Members are elected from the junior class on the basis of three ideals: service, scholarship and leadership. Membership in Mortar Board is an honor that carries responsibility for these ideals.
National Society of Collegiate Scholars
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars was established on the principle that with scholarship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service.
To this end, the society recognizes and celebrates high achievement among first- and second-year students, encourages high standards throughout the college experience, provides opportunities for personal growth and leadership development and encourages learning through community service.
Membership is based upon grade point average. Eligible first- and second-year students receive invitations to join the society during the spring semester.
Orientation Council strives to welcome all new students by providing information and support to aid them in their transition to the Agnes Scott community. Orientation events include a breakfast with the president; a gathering of Decatur area businesses, churches and banks and an academic open house as well as excursions to various local destinations during Labor Day weekend.
Council members are chosen by an application process each fall.

Scottie Sidekicks are a group of upper-class students that serve as peer educators to new students with specific emphasis on the first-year experience. These students seek to educate, inspire and mentor new students, introducing them to social traditions and academics at Agnes Scott.
Student Government Association
Each student of Agnes Scott College is a member of the Student Government Association. The student body elects SGA officers as well as the officers and representatives of Honor Court, Student Senate and Judicial Board.
Tower Council, the student ambassador organization for the college, works closely with and is sponsored by, the Office of Admission. This group of approximately 50 students serves as ambassadors of the college to internal and external audiences.
Areas of responsibility include serving as tour guides, maintaining personal correspondence with prospective students and parents, playing host to overnight prospective students and assisting with campus preview days.
An application and interview process in the fall and spring are required for membership.
Student Athlete Advisory Committee
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee enhances the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image. SAAC consists of 2 representatives from each varsity team. The representatives serve as a liaison between team members and the college administration.
Fall Leadership Retreat
Each August, student leaders kick off the school year with an overnight retreat. They learn how to more effectively manage their organizations, reach their goals and visions and continue developing as leaders.
Leadership Transition is a half-day workshop during which incoming and outgoing student organization officers meet to hand over their leadership roles. It is a time for idea and experience sharing to ensure that the leadership of all ASC student organizations remains strong year-round.
