Language Clubs

Faust Club
Faust Club is a campus organization devoted to German studies, culture and language. Although a German club has been in existence for an undetermined time on campus, the Faust Club received its name during the 1995-96 school year. The club encourages people to explore society and cultural aspects of Germany and to speak and experiment with their German language abilities. Their activities are varied and change as the membership changes. Some activities have included visits to the Goethe Institute, frequent Kaffeeklatches (a sort of coffee and discussion group), movies (in German culture and often in German) and even a trip to Savannah to visit the area's historical German roots.

French Club
The primary purpose of the French Club is to stimulate and enhance interest in the language, literature, and culture of France and French-speaking countries. Students get a taste of the culture through activities such as taking trips to museums, watching French films, attending cultural events and eating French food. The French Club also works with Pi Delta Phi, the French Honor Society and the French table, where students can utilize their speaking skills. All students interested in French culture are encouraged to join.

Japanese Cultural Events Committee
The Japanese Cultural Events Committee began with the primary goal of organizing and offering Japanese-themed events to the Agnes Scott community, as well as to provide a place for people who are passionate about Japanese language and culture to come together and learn more. One popular tradition of the committee is Otsukimi (moon-viewing festival), a collaborative event with ASC's astronomy department. Other events include movie screenings, group trips to the local sushi shop and to JapanFest, as well as other cooperative efforts with the Japan-America Society of Georgia and other nearby institutions offering Japanese-related courses. Everyone interested in Japan and its language and culture is invited to join. Contact: Kathy Negrelli at knegrelli@agnesscott.edu.
