Tell us about your career.
I was recently hired as a 9th grade English teacher at Columbia High School. It is my first year teaching and I am very excited. I have had only positive experiences with my students thus far and I could not ask for anything more.

I have been commissioned to teach a new curriculum that is being implemented in the DeKalb County School System, so I will be new in more than one way. Although it is my first year, I have great expectations for my students and I am confident that they can and will reach every goal I set for them.

How did an education at Agnes Scott make a difference to you as an M.A.T. student?
My education at Agnes Scott was invaluable. I have entered the classroom with confidence as a first-year teacher because I know that I am prepared to do my job and do it well.

I learned every necessary strategy, many useful techniques, and other valuable information which I have already been able to put into practice during my student teaching experience.

Tell us about a memorable experience that you had in one of your classes.
One of my most memorable experiences was during our English 610 class which focused on writing. One of the class assignments was to creatively present notes from the previous class (everyone had designated days when they were expected to present their notes).

As everyone in our group had a healthy sense of humor, there were amusing depictions of the class notes. In a particular instance, one of my classmates created a first-person short story where the main character (him) gave a play by play of the class. It was very humorous because the main character would make true and funny observations, in his head, about the people in class as well as the class in general.

This was just one of the ways we were able to experience the creativity and talent of our classmates while getting to know them better.
