Wednesday, August 3, 2011
The listing joins others in which Agnes Scott is consistently featured, including U.S.News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges, The Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges and Colleges That Change Lives.
The 2012 guide was written to convey to students and parents the personality of each school based on a broad range of subjects, including student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food and extracurricular activities.
“Agnes Scott College, founded in 1889, offers a small town campus atmosphere and provides women with an intellectually challenging institution—absent the distraction of men. The college is known for its science and math programs, but it also produces skilled writers and artists and continues to be one of the South’s leading women’s schools,” according to the guide. “Small but mighty, ASC stands out for the little touches that make students feel they’re part of a close-knit community.”
The guide is written by Edward B. Fiske, who served as education editor of the New York Times for 17 years. Fiske also co-wrote, along with Bruce G. Hammond, The Fiske Guide to Nailing the SAT, as well as Fiske What to do When for College and The Fiske Guide to Getting into the Right College.
The Fiske Guide accepts no consulting, advertising or other fees from colleges and has no outside relationship with colleges working on its behalf.
