Corporations and Foundations

Agnes Scott welcomes partnerships with corporations and foundations to further the mission of the college. This critical source of support enables students to experience new areas of study as they investigate pertinent issues within local and global communities and allows the college to improve the techniques of a 21st-century education.

In addition, the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations works with faculty to develop sources of funding for research and curricular innovation.

Partnerships at Work

As Agnes Scott seeks partnerships with corporations and foundations, the college recognizes that there are many areas where educational needs and philanthropy connect. Mutually beneficial goals are important to the success of these partnerships.

Recent Foundation Gifts

  • A gift from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund in the amount of $150,000 is providing considerable support to Agnes Scott’s sustainability efforts. To achieve its goal to become climate neutral, the duPont Fund will help Agnes Scott conduct an energy audit, purchase electric/gas/water submetering equipment, develop an energy master plan and hire a Sustainability Fellow. Support for sustainability has also been received from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

  • Funding from several foundations is supporting a new initiative at Agnes Scott – the GEMS (Generating Excellence in Math and Science) program. GEMS nurtures the love of math and science in women through academic and social support, mentoring, research opportunities, colloquia and conference presentations. GEMS engages students through a stimulating and carefully selected course of academic study and research designed to prepare them for graduate and professional training in mathematics, science and technology and for successful careers in these disciplines. Funding for GEMS has been received from the John and Mary Franklin Foundation, the AAUW (American Association of University Women), both the national organization and the Atlanta Branch, and the Samuel E. and Mary W. Thatcher Foundation.

Recent Corporate Support

  • The Aramark Charitable Fund provided a significant gift in the amount of $250,000 for energy retrofits and air quality improvements in Jenie D. Inman Hall (built in 1911). This generosity assists Agnes Scott in its commitment to sustainability.
