Gladden Lecture: Christopher De Pree, Professor of Astronomy
Christopher De Pree, Gladden LecturerChristopher De Pree, professor and chair of astronomy and physics at Agnes Scott College, will deliver the Joseph R. Gladden Jr. Lecture for 2012-2013 on March 5 at 6 p.m. in the Delafield Planetarium, Bradley Observatory. His talk is titled “Do Stars Forming Regions Flicker?"
De Pree, director of the Bradley Observatory at Agnes Scott and co-author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Astronomy,” joined the college in 1996. He received his B.S. in physics from Duke University and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The Joseph R. Gladden Jr. Lecture Award is given annually to a faculty member whose scholarly activities are especially noteworthy. The award honors Joseph Gladden, who served as chair of the Agnes Scott Board of Trustees for 10 years before stepping down in 2002.
