Thomas Pogge, Yale University

Thomas Pogge, Leitner Professor of Philosophy and International Affairs of Yale University, will deliver the first lecture of three Ethics Lecture Series talks titled “Healthcare as a Right” on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in Letitia Pate Evans Hall, Terrace Level Rooms A, B and C. His talk is titled “New Medicines: Pay for Performance.”

Pogge will discuss The Health Impact Fund, a mechanism intended improve access to medicines worldwide.

Pogge directs the Global Justice Program at Yale and is the research director of the Centre for the Study of the Mind in Nature at the University of Oslo and a professorial research fellow at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Harvard University. He has published extensively on moral and political philosophy, world poverty and global justice.
