Louis Sachar, Newbery Award-Winning Author 

Louis Sachar, the Newbery Award-winning children’s book author of more than 21 titles including Holes and the Wayside School series, will speak in Agnes Scott College’s Presser Hall, Gaines Chapel on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Sachar’s experience as an elementary school teacher’s aide in college inspired his first book, Sideways Stories From Wayside School, and its two sequels. Holes, published in 1998, won the National Book Award that year and the Newbery Medal in 1999. Some of his other well-known titles include There’s a Boy in the Girls Bathroom and the Marvin Redpost series.
