Poetry lovers will experience personally the qualities that have garnered Collins the comparison to Robert Frost—a frequent guest at Agnes Scott in his later years. Collins’ rare combination of high critical acclaim and broad popular appeal are achievements noted in his appointment as a Guggenheim Fellow and a New York Public Library “Literary Lion.” A poet whose work appeals to all backgrounds and age groups, Collins regularly reads to standing room only crowds and is well known to listeners of National Public Radio. Collins has numerous volumes of poetry to his credit, and in 2006 he released his first compilation of haiku, “She Was Just Seventeen.” This year, Collins released “Ballistics.”
